Bible App Studio (the "Service"), operated by Straight Truth Press, LLC ("STP"), lets organizations design and generate a branded, offline Bible reading app. Designing and building an app, and a temporary web preview, are provided free. Hosting and app-store publishing are optional paid services described in the Studio.
You must register and be approved to use the Studio. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.
Don't use the Service to break the law, infringe others' rights, upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or overload the system. We may suspend or remove accounts or content that violate these terms.
You retain ownership of the content you provide (your branding, text, and any translations you upload). By submitting content you grant STP a limited license to host, process, and include it in the app you create.
You are responsible for having the rights to any Bible translation you upload or select, and for crediting the rights holder as required. The catalog of freely-available translations is provided through the Free Use Bible API; licenses vary by translation (public domain or various Creative Commons terms with differing attribution and derivative rules). Review each translation's license before publishing. STP is not responsible for your use of third-party translations.
The app you generate is branded by and belongs to your organization. STP owns the Studio, the build system, and Straight Truth Press's own Biblical Standard Version (BSV), which you may include free of charge with attribution to Straight Truth Press.
Optional paid services (hosting, app-store publishing) are billed through Stripe at the prices shown in the Studio. Third-party fees — such as the Google Play one-time registration fee and the Apple Developer annual fee — are paid by you, to those companies, under your own accounts, and are not included.
Refunds. Hosting may be cancelled at any time and stops at the end of the current paid period; fees already paid are not refunded or prorated. App-store publishing is a service for the work of preparing, signing, and submitting your app — that fee covers the work performed and is non-refundable once work has begun.
App-store approval is not guaranteed. Whether an app is accepted, rejected, delayed, or later removed is decided solely by Apple and Google under their own rules. STP does not control and cannot guarantee approval. A store's rejection or removal of your app does not entitle you to a refund for work STP has performed. We will make a reasonable effort to address simple, store-identified issues as described for the service purchased.
For Android apps we build, STP generates and securely retains a signing key on your behalf so we can produce updates for you. The same key is required for every future update. You may request a backup copy. If you take your app elsewhere, you are responsible for the key's safekeeping thereafter.
A free web preview may be made available at a straighttruthpress.com address so you can try and share your app. The free preview is temporary: it is automatically removed about 14 days after it is built unless paid hosting has been started. Your downloaded files remain yours, so you can self-host or return to paid hosting at any time. Keeping the app online with us requires the paid hosting service. iOS apps cannot be previewed this way and reach devices only through the Apple App Store.
You may download your app's files and host, embed, or distribute them yourself. If you do, you are solely responsible for that deployment — your website, hosting, servers, domains, security, uptime, and any changes you make to the files. STP is not responsible or liable for anything arising from your own website or from how you host, modify, embed, distribute, or use the downloaded files, including any errors, outages, data loss, or security issues in your environment.
THE SERVICE AND ANY GENERATED APP ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any app will be approved by an app store.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STP WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA OR PROFITS. STP's total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid STP for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability) survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
